Ontario Context Management System (CMS) - FHIR
The Ontario Context Management System (CMS) allows digital health applications, such as Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems or Clinical Viewers to set and retrieve patient context information from the CMS for an established user session. The architecture and design of the CMS will ensure that it can be extended to other Points of Service and Delivery Channels that are members of the eHealth Ontario Federation.
Scope
The Ontario Context Management System FHIR Implementation Guide provides specification for the synchronization of context information between digital health applications using HL7 FHIRcast. The object(s) in the context are represented using HL7 FHIR resources.
The Ontario Context Management System FHIR Implementation Guide is a web-based specification hosted on the Canadian FHIR Registry powered by SIMPLIFIER.NET*. The reader will be re-directed to the implementation guide’s home page on Canadian FHIR Registry website after registering and clicking the “Agree and Download” button.
Status
This implementation guide is for trial use and will go through a formal governance committee review and approval process.
HL7 FHIR & HL7 FHIRcast are the evolving trial-for-use standard, so additional changes by HL7 are expected. We will continue to monitor developments and assess any potential impacts, and publish updates as they emerge.
